Iran claims tests of Bavar-373 air defense system going well

The commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia base has said that testing of the Bavar-373 long range air defense system‘s subsystems are going well and are being tracked by the base and by the Ministry of Defense, according to a report by Fars News, which is close to the IRGC.

Iran has touted the Bavar-373 system as an alternative to the Russian S-300 system, which it desperately needs to upgrade its existing air defense systems.

Farzad Esmaili also said that Iran test-fired its S-200 surface to air missiles during its Velayat-91 war games in the Persian Gulf and neighboring waters. The missile had been fired into a blind spot managed to hit its target without using its radar seeker, according to Fars.
